Our trip to Peru was really great,But we are all glad to be back in our home state. We talked about Jesus and learned a ton, During the trip we even had lots of fun. It took us a while to make our trip back, A little over 60 hours to be exact. We split into 4 groups to make it home, For all around Peru we did roam, Our trip home started with a flight that didn’t exist, So naturally we had to take a risk. We decided to head to Cuzco in hope for more flights, And low […]

Final Day in Peru

Final day in Peru!!! Today consisted of sleeping in, hotel breakfast with the classic bread and jam combo and a special side of eggs. After we got breakfast we spent the morning bartering and haggling for some souvenirs. We finished it off with a grand lunch and dessert. Now we’re currently trying to find ways to fit our well deserved purchases in our suitcases.  But wow. Reflecting, i am blown away by what this trip has been. The Lord has really used the time in Peru to reveal Himself. This trip fell right in the middle of a season of […]

Say Yes to Adventure

Sorry we didn’t get this put up last night, internet issues!  That’s what we did today, adventure!  We woke up early this morning for our final breakfast at camp La Joya, loaded the bus and headed out. It was sad to say goodbye to the beautiful place we’ve called home for the last week. No doubt we will miss waking up to the mountains everyday!  The Timbers staff have amazed me in so many ways this week. Together these 16 students have kept me laughing, impressed me, and brought me to tears more times than I’d anticipated. Our team dynamic […]

Goodbyes are Hard!

My name is Zach “Swish” Cunningham, and this was one of the best weeks of my life. It’s hard to put into words what the Lord has done this week, but TJ told me to, so here’s my best attempt.  Goodbyes are hard! They’re especially hard when you’ve experienced what the Lord did in the hearts of these loving Peruvian kids, their faithful counselors, and my awesome friends. It’s just now starting to hit me that I won’t be waking up tomorrow morning at 5am (because when the sun comes up, the kids come up) only to say “Cinco mas […]

Last Day of Camp

If my 1000 mosquito bites could talk they’d speak Spanish.  Unveiled. Vulnerable. Beautiful. Overflowing. Victorious. Those are just a few words to describe the love of the Lord I see so clearly in the Peruvian staff. Yesterday from afar I watched as Lucy, a female Peruvian counselor who I get the joy of working with a second year, pray with her cabin. As I intently watched her I couldn’t help but fully capture the beaming emotions from her face. I could hardly hear her and much less understand her, yet her genuine thanksgivings and pleas rang loud to me. Through […]

Water Day We Had

Hey guys, Carson here! It’s day 4 of camp here in Peru, which is hard to believe. Time really is flying! Every day there have been new surprises and adventures. Today really was incredible. The water activities we played were like nothing I have ever seen. There was so much joy found in just buckets of water, water bottles, sponges, and a make-shift tarp! The kids love the cold water here and the counselors loved watching the kid’s faces light up all day. Everybody had a great time.         Club tonight was awesome. I think it is because the […]

The Skit Saves the Day!

Sad news: we had to close the beloved pool or today for cleaning 🙁  Happy news: the skit plot was right on time and helped save the day!  We we worried the campers would be upset that they didn’t get to swim due to the pool cleaning…but luckily we made an impromptu skit and blamed it all on the evil skit villain! Today, King Queso was scheduled to take over the pool and fill it with his queso so it was perfect timing! The skit will continue at lunch and we were able to play water games instead this morning […]

Another Day, Another Horse

Hola from Peru, Analiese here with a few thoughts from today! From thefundraising to short naps in the airport to calculating how many hours it had been since our last showers during our 28+ hours of travel time, camp here can not be more fun or worth it! We LOVE all of our Peruvian friends and co-counselors here at camp and get more excited each day about what we can learn from them. We have all noticed how humble and hardworking they are and I am loving soaking it all in and observing the way they serve those around them […]

¡Hola! This is Taylor or Slammock here! Woah, we are in Peru. As I look around I am constantly in awe of the beauty of this country. God has created a beautiful place here in Arequipa, Peru.
