Hola Estados Unidos!

We’re back!!! After much walking, checking in, customs, and delirium induced laughter, we are safely home! What a ride these last 10 days have been.  We are so thankful for the way God has given us depth of relationship as a team in such a short time(some of us barely knew each other before this trip). God has been so abundantly kind and gracious to show us new things about Him and grow us together in the process!  It was so sad hugging Bessy, Tito, Dahiana and David at the airport one last time before we went through security this […]

Making our way back home…

It’s 12am here and we are headed to the airport! It’s been a fantastic day together as a team and with our national staff.  We started our day a little later and headed to a beautiful catholic retreat center to tour around and see the beautiful structures and paintings. There was such a peace about the place. Next we headed to a famous lake in Paraguay, Lake Ypacaray, to enjoy some lunch. We chowed down on some chicken sandwiches and potato salad and even had coke! Today was such a sweet time to just enjoy our time together and laugh […]

Adios Campamento!

Hola amigos and familia!! Claire here. Today was our last day at camp with our awesome Paraguayan campers. Yes, some tears were shed… but how sweet it is to have a great week building friendships that are worth shedding a tear when it’s time to say “see ya later.”  Last night, my campers all gathered in our cabaña before bedtime and talked. (I mostly listened because my Spanish is a work in progress…) The girls shared some of the lessons they learned this week and what they learned about Jesus. It was so cool to hear. There were a few important […]

Hola amigos! Sarah here, and it’s day 6 in p-guay. It’s beginning to sink in that today is the last full day with our sweet campers and wonderful national counselors. Shannon and I awoke at 6:30 and made our way to breakfast by El Río de Paraguay to have bread (surprise!) and cafe con leche (coffee with milk and lots and lots and lots of sugar). Today was a little different, because instead of having worship inside, we set up chairs by the river and sang with the sun shining on our faces.  While the kids have bible study, which is […]

Are you bready to hear about day 5?

Hey guys! Evan here, it’s Day 5 and each day we look more and more like the locals. This is especially true for Chase. He decided to abandon his shoes and wear a Hawaiian shirt with one button to short buttoned(don’t worry, I made him put his shoes back on and button his shirt- Ashley). Everyone has picked up the language quickly to the point that we have forgotten how to speak English at times. This is a quick run down of what happened this morning:O’300- Lil Leche ,the camp puppy, attacks my shoes. I am in a hammock 6 […]

We gon’ cocoNUTS!

Today we sadly said “Adios” to our first session campers. To send them off, we had a small closing ceremony complete with a delicioso torte (cake)! There are definitely things we have been able to teach our national staff but other things we are learning from them, like having a giant cake at closing ceremony, I mean c’mon people, who doesn’t love cake?! Let’s make this a thing at our closing celebrations!  There’s been temptation this week to believe what we are doing is not beneficial or needed because we may not have the words to communicate what we know, or […]

Pileta no siesta!

Hey everyone! Gabby here! The day started with some rain, which was a blessing, but that didn’t slow us down. We had much to do as this is our campers last full day of camp this first session. It’s hard to believe our time is quickly coming to a close with these niños (little ones). But we have had the best day yet! We finally got to play some fútbol (soccer) and we were so excited to be a part of something that is so important to them, culturally, and so much fun, of course. During free time our Pine […]

Our first full day!

Hey friends! It’s Emma here and we are at the end of our first full day of camp! Today we can already tell that our relationships with the campers and our co-counselors are growing stronger.  This morning after breakfast we all spread out and had our quiet times throughout camp. It was incredible to be sitting outside and see around 60 kids that were completely absorbed in spending time with the Father. Later in the morning we had Bible study, which lasted for 2 hours. We were all so impressed that these kids were willing to spend so much time […]

Campers are here!

Today we woke up and had breakfast as a team and then taught our Pine Cove Way to our friends in Paraguay.  There are some incredible Paraguayan staff working with us and we’ve already made friends with them!  At 3 today our first set of campers started arriving. We greeted them with cheers of excitement and welcomed over 60 elementary kids.  We played lots of games and got to swim together and even had several snacks! Merienda (snack time) is quickly becoming one of our favorites!  Tonight Austin spoke at club talking about our sin and how it affects us […]

We have arrived!

We have arrived!  Our team safely landed into Asunción and we are headed to our campsite to sleep and rest up before we start orientation with our national staff tomorrow.  It’s been quite the long day of traveling but we are so excited to see what God is going to do! I was just thinking on one of our flights, how awesome it is that we were in Dallas this morning and now we are in Paraguay the same night, what a gift to get to fly places!  Some things we’ve learned today: 1. Sometimes your flight leaves earlier than […]
