See you Tomorrow!

None of us can believe that we go home tomorrow. It feels like we’ve been here forever and just a day all at the same time. We went to a market today and then to see a volcanic crater. Everywhere we have gone, we have met other people who are doing ministry in El Salvador. It’s amazing to see how much the Lord is working in the country. The church is really rallying here! It’s been amazing! Tomorrow we go home with full hearts, tanner skin, and a broader perspective. Feeling grateful and in awe of the God we serve.  […]

Wowie Zowie!

What a FUNNN day we had today! We woke up in our hostel, that now feels like home, and headed out to the beach! We spent all day there from 10-6!  You haven’t truly seen or played in waves until you’ve been to an El Salvador beach. It was wild and fun and now we have beach hair don’t care and sun kissed cheeks.  We got to see the sun set and watch the moon rise.   Today was amazing and we are so blessed to celebrate our week of camp with a day at the beach. And it’s only […]

That’s a Wrap!

And just like that, camp is over. Kids were loved, locals were trained, and we are changed. God is so good to us and we can’t believe we are already on a bus again en route back to the city. That’s a Wrap! And just like that, camp is over. Kids were loved, locals were trained, and we are changed. God is so good to us and we can’t believe we are already on a bus again en route back to the city. Once again, the locals had a brilliant practical application last night. The kids were given 5 jewels […]

Blown Away

5 out of 10 people in El Salvador are considered to be living in poverty. 4 out of those 5 are considered to be in extreme poverty (read: no running water, etc.). Now knowing that, let me tell you about our day so far. The Bible study this week, which was written by the locals, is themed, “Who is First?” The themes are God first, God’s Word first, Others first, My Neigborhood first. Today the kids learned about putting their neighborhood before themselves.  Tuty invited kids from extreme poverty to come to camp today for a party. Our kids put […]

God the Creator

As I sit in our camp that is absolutely stunning, I am reflecting on God the Creator. I have been studying the book of Isaiah since August and the relationship that is mentioned over and over again is God the Creator and we the created.  First of all, God created and designed all that we can see at this camp, which is just beautiful. See below:  But what I was struck by, as I was singing Spanish words while having no idea what I was singing, is that God knew all the words I was singing. Even though I had […]

Lost in TranslationĀ

We have been immersed in a new culture and language for 4 days now and let me say that we have come a long way. But it hasn’t been without OUR FAIR SHARE of speech blunders.  Below I will capture some moments that made a lot of locals laugh at us and have had us cracking up at the end of long days.  What Chris meant to say: Man verses man What Chris actually said: Hand and hand What Tuty meant to say: Her favorite color is turqouise What Tuty actually said:Her favorite color is Turkies What Katie B meant […]

Campamento!

We started the day by going to the church to pick up our campers! Once we arrived at the camp, we welcomed them off the busses the only way we know how–with lots of jumping and excitement!  We have heard that some places in the States are getting snow right now…meanwhile, we are swimming outside in January! We are greatly improving on our Spanish skills, but we have also had plenty of speech blunders…blog post to follow on that šŸ˜‰ For now, here are some pics from today! Prayer requests: -that kids would hear and accept the Gospel! -continued energy […]

Almost Time!

Today was great! We feel like new people after getting a full night of sleep last night. We spent the day at our team’s church and doing some training and team bonding.  We played some ice breakers and we laughed a lot together, which is definitely an answered prayer!   While we were at the church today, Tuty (their camp director) told us how their church building, which is very nice, was donated by a man in Kansas. She also told us and showed us pictures of families from their church that are currently missionaries in other countries. It struck […]

Night #1

We had lunch right when we arrived at the El Salvador version of “chick-fil-a.”  After that, we came back to our hotel and got to just hang out and catch up on some sleep. The weather could not be more perfect and the view from where we are is so delightful! Then tonight, we had our first taste of the local food favorite: pupusas. Check out our awesome dinner spot at our hotel! Just dreamy! We just finished up dinner and are going to head to bed soon after a long travel day! Please pray for us tomorrow as we […]
