Rested and ready!
Hello from Guatemala City!
We had a great day of travel, arriving in Guatemala shortly after noon. After we arrived and went through customs, our amigo, Werner picked us up from the airport.
We went to a large mall in the center of the city and ate at a food court there. The ever popular, Guatemalan fast food chain “Pollo Campero” was a huge hit.
After lunch, Werner took us back to his church. This is where we will be staying tonight and tomorrow night. It’s incredibly beautiful. It functions as a church and a retreat center. It’s about two to three acres of land, with a sanctuary, some dormitories and lots of room to play. A camp person’s dream come true.
We rested the afternoon away after a long day’s worth of travel, afterwards the ladies here cooked us a feast of “ravioles”, which to my estimate was somewhere between the best tamale you’ve ever had and an enchilada. Afterwards we ate some delicious pudding and had a couple cups of coffee, of course.
Tomorrow morning our Guatemalan team will arrive shortly after breakfast. We’ll spend the day reconnecting with our friends and helping them do a camp orientation for their staff. We are really looking forward to spending time with them, and getting beaten in several hundred games of soccer.
Having a blast adapting into Guatemalan culture today,
