Mission Trips

Para Los Niños

Posted Jan 9, 2016

We are off and running into our second session of camp here in Guatemala City!! Except this time there is one major difference in our campers……..their ages! This session we are hosting almost 70 children ranging in the ages of 6 to 12 years old. One thing that we have seen in our time spent with these kids already is that a smile and laugh breaks down any language differences that we may have. They just want to play, so it’s a good thing they came to camp because we are experts at having fun!

Our day started off with the usual devotion and Bible study led by our Guatemalan staff. It has been amazing to see how the campers respond to God’s word even at such a young age. Next, we rushed off to activity classes which included some new additions like our large parachute (which they love!) and teaching them how to play ultimate frisbee. With this age group it seems they are never short on energy when it comes to the games we set out before them. Whether they understand our game explanations that we try to give in broken Spanish or not, they are excited to play nevertheless.

Tonight we have a full schedule as well. We will have Club (PC’s name for worship service) and wrap up the night with a nice camp style fire. During this time at the fireside we will sing songs, one of our staff will give their testimony, and campers will get the chance to share what God has taught them already in their time spent here at camp. To be honest, the time of sharing is my favorite. It is a time that everyone gives praise to God for the realizations and lessons that He has brought to each one of us in our own way. It truly is a special time to hear what God is doing in the hearts of His people.

Please continue to pray that God would give us strength as our bodies are beginning to grow tired from the weeks activities. Pray that God would use us to show His love to these children. Pray that we would finish well, because believe it or not we only have 2 more days here, which is crazy to think about! Pray for our Guatemalan staff as they have opportunity to follow up with these kids in future weeks and continue the relationships that have been built here at camp.

We are so grateful for your support and prayers as we watch God do amazing things! Until next time, Audios!
