Meet the Team-2017

Posted Jan 1, 2017

Happy New Year everyone! As we celebrate all the Lord has done in 2016, we get to prepare and pray for what He is going to do in 2017.  Coming soon, the Shores is going to take off and head to Guatemala for the second year to join with Iglesia Bautista Vida Nueva to run camp. Many of you have already joined us by giving money and praying for us over the last few months. THANK YOU! Thank you for partnering with us. This blog is where we will keep you up to date with all that is going on in Guatemala. But, for now, I want to introduce you to the team:

Kayla is from Hendersonville, TN and graduated with a degree in Spanish from the University of Tennessee, GO VOLS 🙂 She now lives in Bullard, TX with her incredible husband Barrett “Burger King” Sims. Barrett is the Director of the Ranch and Kayla is the Women’s Director at the Shores. She loves sports, Spanish, traveling, and puzzles. She is passionate about discipline college girls and camp ministry.

Taylor is from Corpus Christi, Texas and goes to school at Texas State University where he studies Communication and will graduate in May of 2017. He worked 3 summers at Pine Cove starting in 2014. Taylor is active in a local college ministry where he enjoys leading and working with college students to spread the name of Jesus Christ on campus and beyond. When he has some free time, you will find him outdoors or somewhere near a body of water. Taylor is pumped to get married August 5th and start life with his best friend Brianna.

Kory is from Amherst, Massachusetts. He is a Senior at Baylor University where he studies Business Management and Leadership. At school Kory plays club baseball for Baylor and is a part of ZZZ a Christian fraternity and Non-Profit organization. He has discovered a passion for leadership and the development of high school guys into men who are willing to lead with a love for Christ. He has worked two summers at Pine Cove where his love for highschoolers and the Gospel grew even deeper.

Nikki is from Houston, Texas. She is currently a junior at Texas A&M where she studies Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Sciences and sometimes Business and Spanish. Nikki can often be found hanging out with high schoolers in the Bryan/College Station area, pranking her friends, and usually napping. She has worked two summers at the Shores and is passionate about high school girls experiencing the transforming love of Christ, and how that affects them moving forward into the next phase of their life. Other interests include, but are not limited to, pugs, pizza, and funny Facebook videos.

Dillon is from Dallas, TX. He is a Junior at TCU, studying Secondary Education and hopes to be a high school English teacher. Outside class, Dillon will only wake up early for hunting season and camping trips. Jesus, the outdoors, and his momma’s breakfast burritos hold his life together. Dillon has worked at the Shores for the past two summers, serving as a counselor and photographer. He is thoroughly grateful for being able to see and experience the life change that the Lord has done in high school students since being at camp.

Natalie Hinson is from Coppell, TX. She is currently a junior at The University of Texas at Austin where she is studying Corporate Communications and Broadcast Journalism. She is involved in her sorority and Younglife at two Austin high schools. Natalie has worked the past two summers where she fell in love with high school ministry. She also enjoys being outside, watching football, and hanging with friends.

Dylan Gilbert, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, studies Marketing and Spanish at Louisiana State University. He has spent one summer at the Pine Cove shores as a boys counselor and ropes course instructor, and is beyond excited to use the Spanish language to represent Christ in the country of Guatemala. When not at school or work, Dylan spends his time cycling, reading, and making music with his friends.

Taylor Winchester is from Tyler, Texas. she is currently a sophomore at Texas Tech University where she is studying business marketing. She has worked at the Shores for one summer in retail and as a counselor. At camp, she realized her passion for highschool ministry and for sharing the love of christ with others. Outside of class and camp, she enjoys traveling, going to concerts, trying to learn photography, and eating.

Emma is from Austin, TX, a born and raised Austinite. She is a sophomore at Concordia University Texas and is a communications major with a minor in art. She is also an outfielder for the university’s softball team and leads worship for their student lead worship service. She has worked one summer at the Pine Cove Shores and has fallen in love with showing how the Lord can change lives. Emma enjoys the beautiful outdoors, music, painting, crossfit, people, and of course, Jesus.

Jodi is from Coppell, TX. She is a student at Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) studying Communication and Psychology. She has loved working two summers at Pine Cove and has a passion for ministry with high school girls. She loves reading, traveling, and being outdoors. You can usually find her playing with someone else’s dog, drinking a good cup of coffee, or exploring a new place with friends!

David is from Lubbock, Texas. He is a junior at Texas A&M University where he studies Kinesiology. He has worked at Shores the past two summers as a counselor and lifeguard and has a love for student ministry and the development of high school boys into men of God. During the day, David can be found playing sports or video games with his friends and on special occasions at the library doing homework.

Travis Cotton attends Oklahoma State University and is in his junior year. He is pursuing his goal of physical therapy by obtaining a degree in Health Education and Promotion and a minor in Entrepreneurship. He has been a counselor at Pine Cove Shores for one summer, where he strengthened his desire to boldly share Christ with those around him. On a typical day, you may find Travis sharing the gospel, sharing his mind, but very rarely sharing his skittles or milk.

Lauren Latham is from Austin, Texas. She is a sophomore at Texas A&M University where she studies business. She is also active within her sorority and various campus intramural sports. Lauren has worked one summer at Pine Cove, where she was able to see the Lord transform the lives of many high school students and discover her love for high school ministry. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, the outdoors, anything to do with sports, and spending time with friends.

Whitney Young is from North Richland Hills, Texas. She is a sophomore finance major at the best university of them all, Texas A&M University. She grew up attending Pine Cove for 8 years as a camper, and has served on staff as a counselor for one year. Pine Cove has shown Whitney how faithful the Lord is, and taught her what it looks like to rely on Him. She is looking forward to seeing how the Lord is faithful in Guatemala. Whitney is passionate about leadership and serving others. She also enjoys community with friends, puppies, and fuzzy blankets.

Stay tuned. We will be posting daily. Please pray for us as we travel to Guatemala on the 3rd. Leave any comments you’d like and I will share them with the team.
