Meet Our Team!
This is Jimbo “T.M.I.” Mercer, our fearless trip leader. He works full time at Pine Cove Silverado as the associate director where he gets to share his passion for truth and Jesus with kids, and talk about his love for dragons. This will be Jimbo’s second year to lead a trip to El Salvador, get pumped party people!
Trip co-leader Rory “Battle B” Jones hails from Temple, TX. He went to Southwestern University (Go Pirates!) in Georgetown, TX. Rory has been involved year-round at Pine Cove for the past two years, graduating from the Forge in 2014 and being one of the Forge Residents in 2014-2015. Rory enjoys international experiences and is excited for his first Commission Camping trip.
Emily “Blesses” Springer is a sophomore Communication Sciences and Disorders major at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She calls Clarksville, Tennessee home. Emily hopes to use her ability to purr like a cat to roll her Spanish “r’s” in El Salvadorrr.
Michael “Hammerhead” Campbell is from Sunnyvale, Texas. He is a Commission Camping veteran, having gone to El Salvador last year. Michael studies Elementary Education at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, where he is a junior. Michael’s previous trip experience and his knowledge of Spanish will be a great help to the team!
As a Spanish minor, Ashley “Berry Tales” Kaul talks to herself in Spanish for fun. She is a junior at University of North Texas in Denton, where she majors in Speech Language Pathology. Ashley is from Waco, Texas, affectionately referring to it as “The Wack.” We look forward to having her on the team.
Daniel “Drum Stand” Guadiano, a junior at Texas State in San Marcos, is from San Antonio. He majorsin Political Science and has a job at a western store, specializing in hat shaping and even selling western wear in Spanish. Daniel has taken Spanish classes in high school and college.
Michelle “Trees” Zvonkovic is from Sugar Land, TX. She studies Environmental Science as a junior at Stephen F Austin in Nacogdoches. She has taken Spanish in school. We hope to use her pole vaulting skills to help us bound over any obstacles we may encounter.
A senior from Wimberly, Texas, Landon “Gravy” Ellis is a Civil Engineering major at Texas A&M. He is an experienced traveler, having visited over 25 countries and lived in 3. He can speak enough Spanish to get by. We’re excited to have him on the team!
Corina “Pip Skrrt” Dempsey attends Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She is from Austin. Corina majors in American Sign Language (how cool is that?!) and is on the interpreting track. Although she doesn’t know Spanish, her fun personality and enjoyment of sports, especially volleyball, will definitely help the team out!
