El Mejor Tesoro
Buenas Tardes Familia, we are currently at dinner where we are having a classical American meal including hamburgers and papayas! Papayas not so much….but maybe one day. We heard that in Texas it has snowed, and in some other states the temperature is 2 Degrees or lower. We would say we feel sorry for you, but it is nice and sunny here with a chance of sunburn. J Want to hear about our day now? Okay, okay….so we started out today with our normal quiet time, little did we know that the Panama staff met with their cabins as a group during quiet time to reflect on Gods Word as a team. Waking up to see this started our day with unspeakable Joy because they are already putting in to practice what they have learned! Praise God!!
The theme of the week is “ El Mejor Tesoro” meaning God being the best treasure! In Bible Study the Panama Staff are leading the cabin just as we would at Pine Cove! Our Bible Study is based on Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break or steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Jan who is a counselor for the Panama Staff said, “ This Bible Study has brought his group of guys together by allowing them to open up their hearts and it is only day two of camp!! Normally this would happen on the third or fourth day of camp.” He also said “ With this Bible Study that he has been able to be intentional with all of his campers and that is something he has been praying for” Needless to say, God is doing mighty things in Panama and we are so thankful!!
Some of the kid’s favorite activity classes were actually a made up game by our fearless leader Monty Ray or “Gringo Loco,” as they would say. This game involved standing a bat up straight and putting your head to the bat, spinning ten times and then trying to hit the ball! #DIZZY4DAYZ. Of course, we did bring our normal activities with us and they have been having a blast, and kicking our watermelons at pretty much every sport. The Niño’s were introduced to Basketball, a sport they have never played before, and the have been excited to play everyday now!! We were also challenged to a Panama VS. USA soccer game… That is happening tomorrow so stay tuned in for the score! Prayers are appreciated…a lot of them…Please…!!!
