Day Two: so much joy!
It is day two of our first camp. We have already finished most of our day and it has flown by.
A question was asked in a comment about the weather. What is it like? Well we are glad that you asked! Here in El Salvador during the day it will get up into the mid 90s. This is similar to our summers in Texas. It is also dry without much humidity like Texas. There are differences however. We have found out that since they are much closer to the equator, it is basically summer the whole year. So they do not have cold winter nights and days like us. Where we are wearing sweaters and snow boots sometimes, they are the opposite. When the night comes, the temperature drops to the 65-75 degree range. For us from Pine Cove this is wonderful weather. But since this is normal, or cold for the nationals, we see kids and adults walking around in hoodies or long sleeve shirts. This is much different for us!
Today has been full of activities. The kids seem to be really enjoying camp. We cannot understand all of the words that they say but by the looks on their faces, their joy is evident!
First, we raised the flag of El Salvador
And here are some photos from around camp today
We just finished a giant water balloon game where each team had to protect Jeff or Garret and hit the other. Whoever was soaked the most at the end was the winner! The kids, being kids, started to hit each other while still playing the game. It was a ton of fun as you can see in the pictures below.
