Day 3: River Adventures!

Posted Jan 9, 2016

Hey guys! Today is Day 3 of our Session 2 with our high schoolers and man are our days jampacked! When your day starts at 5:00am, it’s pretty impressive all you can accomplish by 9:30am haha
We’ve still been so impressed with how much time these campers spend in the word every day – an hour of quiet time before breakfast and almost a 2 hour bible study and they’re soaking it up! So neat.
After lunch, we walked down to a nearby river with the most clear and beautiful water and campers did a scavenger hunt in teams IN THE RIVER. Basically, we had hidden all sorts of objects throughout rocks and trees in the river earlier in the day and campers were given a list and rope. They had to stay in a line and walk upstream (not easy) looking for objects while helping each other. So cool!
Later that night, we played Commando and it was hilarious. Seeing these high schools bond with their cabin by acting like animals, dancing and more while on the hunt for the coins was the best. A lot of laughter for sure!
After commando, we hiked up to our campfire spot and had the most massive bonfire. I’m pretty sure Johnny is a bonfire designer – each one he comes up with more exciting things to make it cooler. This time he figured out how to make the fire turn green! Two of our team members  spoke about what the lord has done in their lives (using their Spanish skills) and how the Bible tells us that walking with the Lord is an all in deal and the calling he’s placed on our lives. We then were able to worship in English and Spanish – what a gift to worship our God together who knows no bounds of language!
Today is our last full day of camp and we’ve already started early with a 3:45am wake up call for a morning hike to see the sunrise! Pretty sure we are all going to crash when we get home but for now, we’re soaking up every minute we can.
Thank you for your prayers and support – all our illnesses are so much better! To God be the glory!
