Day 1

Posted Jan 3, 2018

Hey, friends and family! This is Lauren Sikes, and I am one of the team leaders for the trip. Here is a quick recap of our day!

Our El Salvadorian adventure started early this morning with a 2:30 a.m. wake up call. We flew from Dallas to Miami and had enough time to grab some Starbucks before catching our next flight to San Salvador. Praise the Lord for smooth travel and warmer temperatures! After landing, we had the chance to meet some friends from Christian Camping International. Several of our team members participated in this trip last year, so this was a fun reunion for them. We are excited to get to spend more time with Tuty, Andrea and Andrea, and little Daniel as we partner with them to run camp. We all went to lunch at a favorite local restaurant, Pollo Campero, where we enjoyed some good chicken and a signature El Salvadorian orange soda. After lunch, we got settled in the hostel where we will be staying for the next two nights. We were pretty sleepy from our long day of travel, and enjoyed a relaxed night, complete with papoosas for dinner and a game of silent football. Tomorrow, we will meet with our El Salvadorian partners to plan and set up for camp this week. We are eager to see what the Lord has for us as we serve alongside our new friends!
